While the Cowboy was fighting the cornered Onion, he saw something out of the corner of his eye. When he told me the story later he said it wasn't because of the movement, but because of the color - supposedly his vision, including his peripheral vision, contains amazing, bright colors that you and I could only hope to see in everyday life. He told me it is like this because he's all one color, so he thinks God gave him this ability as a peace offering so he wouldn't fight him. I have no comment.
Against the vivid blue of the house siding, he saw a dark figure staring at him from the proch. He immediately abandoned the Onion (who, he said, wasn't much of a fight anyway) and approached the dark figure. He was startled to find that it was a mouse watching his every move.
I didn't have the heart to tell him that the poor mouse had frozen to death and was not a threat to him.
